Astrophotography by Anthony Ayiomamitis

Lunar Gallery - Rising Moon

Although the moon may be the bane of all astrophotographers, for it is the brightest object which graces our skies after our sun, it provides for some very colorful events when observed at or just above the horizon. During these sightings, it assumes a variety of shades ranging from deep red to light orange. Due to its low altitude and atmospheric turbulence during these brief periods of observation and/or imaging, the moon will invariably appear slightly fuzzy or out of focus in appearance.
